Sylas's Moccasins

After going to the pow wow yesterday I was inspired to redo Sylas's moccasins. There were several flaws in the first attempt so I simple took them apart and re did them. I gave them a stiff inner sole so they have more shape, shortened the toe to fit better, and gave them that traditional gather on the front. I think they are near perfect now. Next I want to make him some taller boot style ones, but I have to find some more leather to work with.

Sylas's arm tattoos

Everyone that knows me knows that I am not much of a tattoo person. In real life.
Dolls is another matter. So I decided out of all of my dolls Sylas was the one I wanted to see get a little ink (or watercolor pastel really). Being the bohemian one in the group he had to have something fitting so I settled on a tribal design which I first drew out on paper and then painstakingly drew them out on his disassembled arm pieces. A few clear coats later and ta-dah! I love the look on him and hey, he does have to wear a bazillion bracelets to achieve that "hippie" look.

1950's dress

I just wanted to share that I haven't been sewing for a while but I did get Charlotte's dress done.
I think her short hairstyle and little shoes match it perfectly too!
I decided to ruffle up a little bit of lace material at the waistline instead of the bow. I tried the bow but it was difficult to make it look right on such small scale, and it kept getting in the way of her arms.
The circle skirt worked out well and I love the drape of it, sitting and standing it looks very nice.
